For many years AMSI has been offering marketing, accounting and property management internships to young people from all over the world. Every intern had an impact on the daily business and has become a part of the AMSI family. We were wondering about their reasons to go abroad. Moreover what their overall experience is and how they benefit from taking their internship at AMSI.

Today we introduce you to Pauline Cousin from France who joined AMSI San Francisco for a marketing internship.

Taking an intership abroad, especially in the USA, has always been something that I wanted to accomplish. After I’m done with my studies at Business School in France I want to work abroad. This internship was important for me to gain some first hand experience in an international maket, especially to experience the US market since it’s one of the most important trade place in the world.

My goal for this internship was to develop a sense for the Amrican working culture and market, especially to get some knowledge about the marketing techniques, as well as to improve my English language skills.

I aririaved at AMSI without knowing what is awating me, but it turned out to be a good surprise. AMSI is like a home with a really friendly environment and I’m surrounded by a great intern team!

Every day is an opportunity to learn and discover new things. I have fun with my team, improve my knowledge of the world, work in an environment completely different from what we may have in France and apply school’s marketing theories in a real work environment.

Even though I’m here for just 2 months, I can say that it’s a really good experience and I’m glad that I joined AMSI and to have seized the opportunity to work for this company.

Moreover my internship has been a great occasion to discover San Francisco and its crazy inhabitants and great weather!  There is always something to do in San Francisco.  You can’t get bored in this amazing city!!

We Asked The Interns – With Chloe Lecuyer… the most rewarding and strongest experience I have ever had

In today’s We Ask The Interns we introduce you to Chloe, an International Business student from France who  joined AMSI San Francisco for a marketing internship.

My name is Chloe Lecuyer, I have been a marketing intern at AMSI for two and a half month now. I came to San Francisco because I heard a lot about this city back in France. San Francisco is known as a must-see city in France. It’s known as a city with a story, a legacy and a soul so important that you have to discover it. Furthermore I heard a lot from the former interns of AMSI who talked about their great experience over there. This is why I took the opportunity to discover this gorgeous city and become a part of the AMSI family.

Working for AMSI was at first a bit daunting because I did my previous internship in very small family-run company. AMSI on the contrary, is a pretty important and well-established organization in San Francisco. I was very glad though to see that AMSI gives a really warm welcome to every single intern, which really matters for a newbie at the beginning to feel comfortable and useful for the company. Moreover, despite the worldwide economic crisis the real estate market is a pretty dynamic and important sector in Europe as well as in the United States. It’s a field that generates a lot of profits and offers me the possibility to evolve. This is why it was so interesting and rewarding to work with AMSI; the real estate market characteristics differ a lot depending on the country in regards to legislation and market regulation. To this extent, San Francisco is the best city ever to learn the most about real estate.

Through my internship with AMSI I have learned a lot, and grew professionally and personally. On the one hand, I learned a lot about the American corporate culture. I like the way that the American people give value to team work and give feedback every time you complete a task. Also, the company hierarchy is present but not as strict and rigid as it would be in Europe. Americans pay attention to their employee’s point of view before making a decision. In addition, communication has a big part in the process. I also learned to respect deadlines and to be serious at work. If you work hard and deliver something good, people will trust you, assign you more projects and you will be able to evolve in the most efficient way in a company. On the other hand, I learned to be more independent and to work by myself, especially the feedback that I got helped me to grow professionally and personally. I got to the understanding that you have to take risk to learn more and grow. At first it was scary to leave my country and travel that far, but now I know that I made the right decision. You just have to always push yourself and be ambitious to reach your goals.

I was pretty surprised to so quickly fit in and feel at easy in San Francisco. I felt at ease sooner than I thought I would and I actually like the American lifestyle a lot, especially the one in California. Indeed, this country is a picture of freedom for me. People here are free to express their personality, to dress the way they want to, to quit their job when they feel the need to. This might sound silly for Americans, but for a French person it is kind of surprising in a good way. Appearances matter a lot in France and you have to fit in to be taken seriously professionally speaking. In France, people are usually restricted by some contracts and agreements that I feel not good for people’s personal development.

Thus, I will come back home with an open-minded spirit and the idea of either coming back to the US to work or maybe finding a job within an American firm in Europe. I fell in love with the American corporate culture and their atmosphere at work. I will most definitely carry on travelling to discover many other cultures and lifestyles as I think it is the most rewarding and strongest experience I have ever had.

 Young People’s Impact on AMSI

We Asked The Interns – With Nadia Chikhi… this experience will be engraved in me.

Today we asked Nadia, who joined AMSI for a marketing internship.

My name is Nadia Chikhi, I am a student in foreign languages applied to business and thanks to this I had the opportunity to take an internship abroad. I decide to fly to the United States for a unique experience. Due to the fact that others students already went to AMSI for an internship the previous years, I had the chance to get some feedback concerning the company. Therefore I knew from the very beginning that the internship at AMSI will be an adventure and it indeed was and fulfilled all my needs.

I’m a marketing intern with AMSI since April. What I really love about the company is the fact that everybody can contribute to the expansion of the company by suggesting ideas or improvements. The working conditions are pretty good and it is a pleasure being with open-minded people, who don’t hesitate to encourage you and give you feedback for your tasks. It is still interesting and rewarding to know that everybody really cares about you and what you do.

This has been one of the most important events in my life so far. Even though I already had several jobs in France, this internship has taught me a lot, especially to have trust in my abilities, strengths and myself; I know that I can handle a lot of things just to succeed and to give the best of me now. I will never forget all the people that I met here and all that they brought to me. The American way of life and working conditions are exactly what I am looking for. People in San Francisco are really friendly and welcoming. I definitely feel like home here, life is more than enjoyable. This experience will be engraved in me.

We Asked The Interns – With Solene Jacob… I had to carry out this opportunity

For many years AMSI has been offering marketing, accounting and property management internships to young people from all over the world. Every intern had an impact on the daily business and has become a part of the AMSI family. We were wondering about their reasons to go abroad. Moreover what their overall experience is and how they benefit from taking their internship at AMSI.

Today we asked Solene; an International Business student from France who joined AMSI for a marketing internship.

I’m Solene and I’m completing my third month of internship with AMSI in San Francisco, which has been a great experience so far. I can say, that I definitely don’t have any regrets choosing this at times crazy city. I have had several experiences going abroad, in the US and beyond, whether professional related or just for vacation. Besides it‘s always a pleasure to travel around this country and start from scratch in a new city. Each place here has its own vibe and energy; San Francisco is no exception. People in California are very friendly and welcoming. It is some kind of a melting pot, and you instantly feel at ease no matter what your background is. Moreover, I barely can compare this city to any other that I’ve ever been at in America. San Francisco has its own culture, a mix of history and new age.

There are several reasons why I chose AMSI in San Francisco. This city has a big history in architecture; therefore it came close to me to choose a real estate company to intern with. This gave me the opportunity to get on the field and experience the city and the great buildings and places that it has to offer, which made this experience even more worth that it already was. Besides, the company made it so easy for us to put our skills to good use, that this experience could only be rewarding in any imaginable way. We interns and our accomplishments get valued constantly; they pay great attention to everybody’s achievements.

Thus, the main things I have learned through this experience are accountability and integrity. Those are two values most people tend to forget today as they take everything for granted. Truth is, it is not and should not be. For the past months I have been accountable for something else than only myself, as I had been entrusted with some serious tasks I had to take great care of. Besides, when you work within a team, developing those values are quite important if you want the journey to go as smoothly and the work to be as efficient as possible.

I feel that I had to carry out this opportunity, taking this internship. It has brought so much to me; there are definitely a lot of things that I am going to take home, to France, with me. May it be the memory of a great team, following this American Corporate culture that I really enjoy every time I get to chance to work for an US group, the feeling of belonging somewhere and being part of a big family and of course, the sweet little nothings that make a trip a once in a lifetime experience, eventually.

We Asked The Interns – With Aurelie Coustans… A dream I hope would never end.

For many years AMSI has been offering marketing, accounting and property management internships to young people from all over the world. Every intern had an impact on the daily business and has become a part of the AMSI family. We were wondering about their reasons to go abroad. Moreover what their overall experience is and how they benefit from taking their internship with AMSI. We asked the interns…

Today we start with Aurelie; an International Business student from France who joined AMSI for a marketing internship.

I chose to do my internship with AMSI for several reasons. One of them was because I was really interested in the tasks and projects that I could be working on. Furthermore I wanted to work in an American company and experience the American corporate culture. Since I had a lot of good feedback from former interns, I was convinced that AMSI was the right place for my internship.

What I like about AMSI is the work environment. They encourage you to bring new ideas and always give you feedback on your tasks and projects, which gives me the opportunity to know my progress and grow. Therefore I felt really happy to come in and work there every morning.

AMSI helps its interns to gain valuable professional experience, but since we are all from different backgrounds we also help them to bring in new ideas and a fresh look to the company.

It is not only a great professional experience, but also a really amazing life experience. Living for three month in San Francisco is the best way to discover the American culture. As a simple tourist you probably couldn’t see and experience many things as I did while living here. Moreover I met so many interesting people and each of them has become a part of my experience. This unique experinece changed my life! A dream I hope would never end…

Young People’s Impact on AMSI

AMSI works with highly-skilled, reliable, ambitious and fun interns from all over the world. Most of the interns are from Europe, but many are also from China, Korea, Japan and many other countries.

The AMSI Intern Program includes a vast variety of duties in each department; from Marketing to Property Management to Accounting. During their 3, 6, 12 and sometimes 18 month internships, AMSI involves the interns in every day tasks and challenging projects to encourage them to reach their goals. AMSI’s goal is to support them in growing professionally and personally, whether it is to get to know more about the American working culture, improving their language skills or in gaining a great life experience in a foreign country. While the interns learn a lot during their internships, AMSI in return gains much as well due to the great knowledge, skills and personalities, which every single intern brings to the company.

AMSI CFO and Broker Robb Fleischer says: “It is a great opportunity to work with young and ambitious people from all over the world who bring their very own culture to the company. For AMSI it is gratifying to watch the intern’s learning process, how they improve their language skills, how the individuals achieve their goals and how they help AMSI grow further. It has always been an advantage for AMSI to build long-term friends. This kind of bonding process causes some sort of family atmosphere, which means that working at AMSI is challenging as well as comfortable at the same time.”

Since the intern program started about 8 years ago, the people who work at AMSI have had the wonderful opportunity to meet terrific interns from all over the world. Oftentimes it is not easy for the AMSI staff to say “goodbye, auf Wiedersehen or au revoir” to many of those wonderful and fascinating interns. This is especially so after seeing them growing and becoming a part of the AMSI family. But as Fleischer says to every intern at his or her farewell ceremony: “You will always be a part of the AMSI family”. It definitely is true and the interns go home still being a part of AMSI due to the great impact the experience has had on their lives and the impact they have had on AMSI during their internship.
